Description

CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

An examination of central problems of metaphysics such as space and time, universals and particulars, substance, identity and individuation and personal identity.

COURSE DETAILS:

Metaphysics is the study of reality, construed in the broadest possible sense. Potential questions to be discussed include: What is the nature of time? Is time-travel possible? What exists? What are their features or properties? How do things persist across time? What is causation? How can we account for the difference between possibility and actuality?

COURSE-LEVEL EDUCATIONAL GOALS:

PHIL 203 is a required course for the Philosophy and Methodology of Science Certificate.
