Description

CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

Multimedia systems design, multimedia hardware and software, issues in effectively representing, processing, and retrieving multimedia data such as text, graphics, sound and music, image and video.

COURSE DETAILS:

Multimedia has become an indispensable part of modern computer technology. In this course,students will be introduced to principles and current technologies of multimedia data processing and system design and gain hands-on experience in this area. Topics include multimedia data (audio/video) digitization, representation, compression, and communication.

NOTES:

Grading

Written Assignments 15%, Projects 30%, Midterm exam (in class) x 2 30%, Final exam 25% Note: Java or C/C++ (no Python or others) are required for programming assignments and projects; GUI (Graphics User Interface) programming skills are required, e.g., open file dialog, click button, draw on canvas, etc., and students are expected to know them or self-study them for projects; Basic knowledge on calculus and linear algebra is required.

All assignments and projects are individual based. Exams are closed book.
