Description

CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:

Enhances students' conversational skills through activities centred on Spanish language films. A selection of films from different parts of the Hispanic world will expose students not only to dialectal and register differences, but also to cultural practices in a variety of settings.

COURSE DETAILS:

In this course, you’ll develop your oral and written communication skills in Spanish through films that reflect the rich cultural, social, and historical diversity of the Hispanic world. Using cinema as a starting point, we’ll engage in meaningful conversations, write reflections, and explore topics such as identity, migration, fantasy, food, social justice, and community. The course is designed to strengthen your Spanish while building intercultural awareness and helping you connect more deeply with the perspectives, values, and experiences portrayed on screen.

  • All class discussions, readings, and written work are conducted entirely in Spanish, offering a full immersion experience.
  • Three-unit course (3 units).
  • *Students should anticipate spending around five hours per week on assignments and/or online activities.
LEC-SESSION: D100 will be held on Burnaby Campus, three-hours once per week.
