CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:
A writing course to improve precision, organization and style when writing academically or creatively in French. Students with credit for FREN 301 may not take this course for further credit. Writing.
COURSE DETAILS:
This third-year language course at the advanced intermediate level (level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference) will allow you to expand your written expression (structure, style, vocabulary enrichment) through numerous writing exercises based on journalistic texts, advertisements and a movie. The systematic feedback will help you to improve your mastery of your written production.
Individual and group work in class.
COURSE-LEVEL EDUCATIONAL GOALS:
The goals of the course are:
- develop and improve written expression;
- teach techniques for analyzing various documents (texts, advertisements, films);
- teach text revision techniques.
Educational goals:
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
• write varied texts following the rules of organization and structuring appropriate to the written genres;
• produce texts of 500 to 700 words, clear and well-constructed, showing the mastered use of structures, connectors and logical articulators of discourse and demonstrating a good degree of grammatical correctness and textual organization;
• improve your written productions by using self-correction techniques, or by benefiting from the linguistic support and computer tools provided by the department and the university.

- Mid-semester essay 30%

- Active participation and attendance 5%
NOTES:
Class attendance is mandatory.
Work done in class cannot be done at home.
