Description
CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:
Investigates the ecosystems and environmental challenges of coastal British Columbia. Examines the major flora and fauna, fundamental ecological principles, anthropogenic drivers of change, and the role of applied science in conservation and management. Students with credit for MASC 414 may not take this course for further credit.
COURSE-LEVEL EDUCATIONAL GOALS:
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to
- describe some of the plants and animals that are characteristic of coastal B.C.,
- discuss the ecological and social opportunities and constraints for sustainable management in coastal ecosystems, and
- outline how "DEMANDS" improves societal decisions about the sustainable use of natural capital.
