CALENDAR DESCRIPTION:
Elementary French II is a carefully sequenced and highly interactive presentation of French language and culture in a media-rich course environment. To successfully take this course, students should be motivated with a sincere desire to learn about French language and francophone cultures, and be comfortable with computer technologies. This course continues on where FREN 101 left off to develop new pathways. Students with credit for FREN 122 may not take this course for further credit. Breadth-Humanities.
COURSE DETAILS:
(This is an online asynchronous course.)
The course continues to introduce the fundamentals of the French language, while building basic communicative skills in speaking, understanding, writing, and reading French through study and practice. The course includes a variety of activities designed to help students acquire knowledge of basic French vocabulary and grammar structures along with the ability to use what they have learned in situations of communication.
In addition, students are introduced to French and Francophone cultures through readings and exercises integrated with the materials used for language acquisition. The course will rely on the textbook En Avant! and online activities posted on the Connect platform. It will cover selected content from Chapters 6 to 10.
Every week, students will be given the opportunity to attend tutorial sessions over Zoom should they wish to ask questions and practice further with their instructor.
*Speaking French adds value to Majors in business and finance, applied sciences, health sciences, social sciences, and humanities. Knowledge of the French language can help you find a job more easily in Canada and in many other countries around the world.
