Porn and cocaine addiction are comparable
The Vancouver Police Department announced today that 14 police officers and one civilian staff member have been disciplined for viewing pornography and other illegal or offensive images at work. SFU psychologist Joti Samra says porn addiction is one of the most difficult addictions to overcome. “Similar to someone with a chemical or substance addiction, porn addicts tend to replace important relationships and commitments with their ‘drug’ of choice: pornography,” says Samra. “Millions of people around the world struggle with overcoming this powerful vice once they acknowledge they have a problem. It’s been compared to cocaine addiction because of similar neurochemical activity in the brain.”
