City ignored reports on flood history and recommendations

As Calgary manages the aftermath of its worst-ever flood, SFU geology professor Brent Ward is available to comment about floodplain management. He says the City of Calgary ignored previous reports on flood history and recommendations to restrict development in areas of the floodplain. “This has resulted in unrestricted development, which has served to increase the monetary and social cost of this flood,” says Ward.
