Foreseeing global environmental change
Nick Hedley, an SFU geography associate professor and co-creator of CLIVE, a new tool for 3D geo-visualization of what global environmental change looks like in the future, is available to comment. CLIVE is short for Coastal Impact Visualization Environment tool. Hedley can discuss how the tool can use climate change models, regional historical data about sea-level rise and coastal erosion, and mitigating environmental-impact strategies to project the environmental future of coastal B.C. and Canada. At 3 p.m. Pacific Time, today, Adam Frenech, a University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) climate change expert and a CLIVE co-creator, is unveiling a live demonstration of what the tool is projecting about PEI’s future.
