SFU Surrey’s annual Gala Dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 10 will feature a celebration of the 10-year anniversary of the campus and the many community partnerships it has developed over the years.

The event is hosted by SFU to thank the community for its support and to provide an update on the latest activities and achievements of SFU’s Surrey campus.

This year’s focus will be on a decade of growth at the campus, from students - with an initial intake of a few hundred to more than 6,500 studying in over 30 undergraduate and graduate degree programs – to thriving research and innovation.

Going forward, the university’s new vision as the Engaged University is positioning SFU Surrey to build on its social and economic community contributions, says Joanne Curry, executive director of SFU Surrey.

“The future for SFU Surrey is very bright, given the breadth of its programs, the strong community relationships that have developed over the years and the growing population of Surrey and other South Fraser cities,” Curry says.

The gala is also a fundraiser for SFU Surrey's Close to Home fundraising campaign. The fund was established in 2007 with a $1-million donation from developer Dale Regehr.

Its aim is to reward entering students with high academic achievement who show student leadership and community involvement.

There are still some tickets available for this event. RSVP by Oct. 3 at www.sfu.ca/invite/surreygala.
