In keeping with SFU President Andrew Petter's comment: "Engaging communities is our DNA," SFU science dean Claire Cupples is taking to CBC airwaves coast to coast today.

Claire Cupples, dean of Simon Fraser University’s Faculty of Science, is talking to Canadians about how scientists can become more engaged in educating the public about what they do.

She helped launch an initiative that is enabling 14 science faculty, staff and students to attend the 2012 American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) conference, which wraps up in Vancouver today.

The initiative’s main goal is to get scientists out of their labs and into a world setting where they can learn how to better engage the public in discovering what they do and why it is important.

Cupples’ cross-Canada plug for science, all that scientists do and SFU’s role in promoting science comes on the heels of SFU President Andrew Petter unveiling SFU’s strategic vision.
