SFU surfaces to the top of crème de la crème

In 2013 Simon Fraser University will remain in the crème de la crème of the employer market when it comes to being one of Canada’s most family-friendly workplaces.

For the sixth consecutive year (2013 latest), Mediacorp Canada Inc., the nation’s largest publisher of employment guides and periodicals, has designated SFU as one of Canada’s top 20 family-friendly employers.

The annual award is bestowed on organizations with human resource programs providing the best support to employees with families, in particular young children.

Mediacorp has consistently rated SFU’s family benefits for employees as A+, the highest rating. SFU stands out for its maternity top-up payments, paternal leave top-up for new fathers and adoptive parents, health benefits during maternity and parental leave, an onsite daycare centre and a subsidy for offsite daycare, compassionate top-up payment while caring for a family member, flexible working hours, and more.

Mediacorp gleans its list of Canada’s top 20 family-friendly employers from its annual selection of Canada’s Top 100 Employers, which SFU made for the six consecutive year in 2013.

Today’s Globe and Mail newspaper features an announcement listing Canada’s top 20 family-friendly employers for 2013. Mediacorp’s Eluta.ca website has details of the announcement.
