Queen’s University professor Christine Overall will talk about the major ethical issues concerning the world’s growing population at a Feb. 21 lecture hosted by Simon Fraser University’s Vancouver campus.

The lecture is the third in a series of discussions called 7 Billion and You hosted by SFU Continuing Studies and Human Evolutionary Studies Program. Overall’s keynote, Ethics and the Seven Billion, will examine the ethical concerns of the world’s use of planetary resources and procreative responsibilities.

“Responding to population growth is not simply about the facts we have to deal with,” says Overall. “It is also about the moral values we choose to adopt.”

Overall currently holds a university research chair at Queen’s. She has also published more than 100 articles and book chapters in the areas of bioethics, feminist philosophy, philosophy of religion, and philosophy of education.

The 7 Billion and You discussion series is a free six-part program focusing on how the world’s population affects us all.
