MEDIA ADVISORY: Graphic designer receives honorary degree

John Maeda, named by Esquire as one of the 75 most influential people in the 21st century, is receiving an honorary degree from Simon Fraser University today.

The graphic designer, computer scientist, academic and author is a design partner with Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. He works with entrepreneurs and portfolio companies to build design into their company cultures.

Maeda has spent his career exploring the intersection of graphic design, computer science, education and leadership. He has received a variety of international awards for his creative work, including the White House National Design Award and induction to the Art Directors Club Hall of Fame.

Please note there is road construction on Burnaby Mountain that may cause delays. It is recommended that media coming to campus should factor in an additional 20-30 minutes in their commute.
