Audience: SFU faculty, administrators and staff

This course is only available to the SFU community.

Social media can be an effective communication tool if used properly. The SFU public affairs and media relations team will explain why you should explore social media and how to get started. It will cover the basics and review platforms like Facebook and Twitter, plus show you how to create compelling YouTube videos and how to be an engaging blogger.

This three-hour workshop is ideal for faculty and administrators who want to become online thought leaders in their area of expertise, or for staff who are responsible for their department’s social media platforms. Learn how to connect with students and the academic community, share your research, or use Facebook to engage prospective and current students.

Facilitators:

  • Dixon Tam, Information Officer, SFU Public Affairs & Media Relations (@DixonTam)
  • Steve Ray, Manager, Web Strategy, SFU Public Affairs & Media Relations (@seray)
