2013 Parking Pricing Proposal
Since the announced loss of G Lot, Parking Services has been investigating options to deal with current and future parking challenges. As a campus, we need to address these challenges by adopting sustainable transportation policies and initiatives.
We are hosting three information sessions to further explain the challenges, our proposed solutions, and to solicit your feedback:
| Date | Time | Place |
|---|---|---|
| June 19, 2013 (Wednesday) | 11:30AM – 1:30PM | Saywell Atrium |
| June 21, 2013 (Friday) | 11:30AM – 1:30PM | SFU Theatre Foyer |
| June 24, 2013 (Monday) | 11:30AM – 1:30PM | ASB Atrium |
Early identification outlines the following as the top three challenges:
- The loss of approximately 1,000 parking spaces, or 20% of our total supply, to development.
- The spaces lost are the least expensive spaces on campus.
- The inefficient usage of the remaining parking spaces (wasted space, empty areas, etc.)
Our proposed solution is to simplify and re-construct the existing parking structure in the following way:
- Two general permit types: indoor ($75/month) and outdoor ($55/month).
- An outdoor permit will allow you to park in all outdoor lots, including visitor lots.
- An indoor permit will allow you to park in all lots (indoor, outdoor, and visitor).
- All reserved spaces will be eliminated.
We have created a three additional webpages: one with more information on the proposed changes, a chart showing how the new rates would compare to the old rates, and a map showing the location & new rate structure of the lots.
We encourage you to review the webpages, attend the information sessions, and provide feedback – either in person at the information sessions or via email at parking@sfu.ca
Once all feedback has been received we will review it and post questions/comments/responses on the website as a FAQ.
Thank-you and we look forward to your participation.
