UPDATE - The following closure has been rescheduled to take place at the end of day on Friday, May 10th. G Lot permit holders can park in the lot until the end of May 10th.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Effective May 1, 2013 all of the parking in G Lot, including Visitor Lot 1, will be removed from service due to construction (approximately 1,000 parking spaces).

On September 1, 2013, pending completion of construction and approval from the City of Burnaby, approximately 350 parking spaces in lower G Lot are planned to be returned to SFU.

As more information becomes available we will be updating this page as well as our dedicated FAQ page and a map page visually outlining the impacts.  As the total number of parking spaces on campus is being reduced, we encourage people to consider alternative transportation options.

SFU Parking Services is pursuing options to mitigate, as much as possible, the impact on current G Lot permit holders. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. Should you have further comments or questions, please see our FAQ and feedback links at the bottom of this page.

Parking Services is taking the following action in regards to students, faculty/staff, and visitors who are affected by this change in parking availability:

Students with current (Spring Semester) G Lot Parking Permits

If you are enrolled in classes for the summer semester:

·       Parking Services will offer you alternate parking elsewhere on campus, at current G Lot prices, for the summer semester only. The location of this parking will be announced shortly. You may choose to purchase this parking or, if you may park in another lot by paying the going rate for that lot.

·       You will be placed on a “priority lottery list” for the ability to purchase G Lot parking in the fall, should it become available.

If you are not enrolled in classes for the summer semester:

·       You will be placed on a “priority lottery list” for the ability to purchase G Lot parking in the fall, should it become available.

Those on the “priority lottery list” will have the first option to purchase parking in G Lot for September 1, 2013 should those spaces become available. If there are more people on the list than parking available, people will be chosen by lottery. If parking in G Lot is not available in the fall semester you will have the option to purchase parking in other SFU lots at their respective rates and subject to availability.

Faculty / Staff with G Lot Parking Permits

If you are currently purchasing an annual G Lot permit:

·       From May 1st, 2013 to August 31st 2013 – you will be relocated, on an interim basis and at no additional cost, to alternative parking lots on campus. The location of this parking will be announced shortly.

·       From September 1st, 2013 onward – if G lot parking becomes available, you will once again be able to park in G Lot. If parking in G Lot is not available in September you will have the option to purchase parking in other SFU lots at their respective rates and subject to availability.

If you are currently purchasing parking in G lot on a weekly, monthly, or semesterly basis:

·       By May 1, 2013 you will need to either convert to purchasing an annual G Lot permit or purchase parking in other SFU lots at their respective rates and subject to availability.

Visitor Parking

Under all scenarios, Visitor Lot 1 is being eliminated. People will need to either utilize other visitor lots on campus, consider purchasing permit parking, or consider alternative transportation options.

Event Parking

Accommodations to visitor and permit parking will be necessary during major University events such as Convocation.
