Faculty & Staff
Note that there is no free parking on the SFU Burnaby Campus. In addition, Parking Services both tickets and impounds vehicles found to be parking in reserved parking spaces or in safety violations. This information is a synopsis, please contact our offices or consult the parking regulations for more detailed information.
SFU Parking Services operates the parking at the Burnaby Campus. Different parking regulations apply at the Surrey and Downtown campuses.
Faculty/Staff have preferred access to parking although location and pricing is not guaranteed. Wait lists may exist for the most desirable lots.
Purchasing a permit
Permanent and continuing staff may purchase a permit through payroll deduction. Forms are located on the online forms page. Temporary and non-continuing positions may purchase parking on a semesterly or annual basis by paying in advance.
Cancelling your permit
Faculty/Staff on payroll deduction must submit a payroll deduction withdrawal form if they wish to cancel/suspend their permit. Faculty/Staff on long-term leave (LTD, sabbatical, etc.) must submit the withdrawal form if they do not wish to pay for parking during their absence, however; under most circumstances Parking Services will “hold” their parking space.
Infrequent travel to campus
Faculty/Staff who normally do not drive to the Burnaby campus may purchase discounted daily parking from Parking Services. For more information please see our visitor parking page.
Parking at other Universities
SFU has a reciprocal parking agreement with a number of BC Universities and Colleges. Note that only regular annual parking permits qualify for this benefit (i.e. reduced rate passes such as evening/weekend passes do not qualify).
Alternative transportation
SFU Parking Services offers alternative transportation options including benefits to carpoolers.
Disabled parking
Faculty/Staff who require parking accommodations due to mobility issues should contact the Human Resources department.
