1. U.S.-Canada relations, with a particular focus on immigration law and policy, border security, the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (WHTI), and NEXUS trusted traveller cards.
2. Canada-U.S. bilateral border policies, such as the  ’Beyond the Border Security Perimeter Initiative’ and immigration policy (C-31, IIRIRA) in Canada and the United States.
3. Canadian and U.S. culture, identity, and geopolitics.
4. The US-Canada border security bureaucracy–US Department of Homeland Security, Canada Border Services Agency
