News broke today that tucked into the many pages of legalese of the 2014 U.S. Department of Homeland Security budget--the cabinet office responsible for US Citizenship and Immigration Services, Customs and Border Protection, and Immigration & Customs Enforcement--is a budget item to study the creation of a fee for land crossings. We don't know much about the fee at this point--DHS wants 9 months to study the viability of putting fees in place along its Northern and Southern borders, but that hasn't slowed the opposition on both sides of the border.
