Proposed Changes for Route 36 in Seattle

A. Operate Route 36 more often

Metro proposes to operate Route 36 more often along Beacon Avenue between South Dawson Street and South Othello Street. This change would take advantage of the new overhead trolley wire currently under construction, which would extend trolley bus service for the first time to South Othello Street.

Route 36 local service would operate Monday through Saturday, every 10 to 15 minutes until about 8:30 p.m., and every 15 minutes on Sunday between about 9 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. Service would continue to operate every 30 minutes during late evening and night hours until 1:15 a.m.

B. Revise Route 36 to serve Holly Park

Metro proposes to revise Route 36 to serve Holly Park (see map). It would operate on South Myrtle and South Othello streets instead of Carkeek Drive South and South Henderson Street. The revised Route 36 would also serve the future Othello Station on Sound Transit's LINK light-rail system.

Diesel buses would provide service every 15 to 20 minutes during rush hours, every 20 minutes weekdays until about 6 p.m., and every 30 minutes at other times until 1:15 a.m.

In the future, Metro intends to consider extending trolley wire along South Myrtle and South Othello streets between Beacon and Rainier avenues so that Route 36 could operate entirely with trolley buses.
