PCAMM News and Information

2008: The University of Victoria becomes a formal member of the PCAMM group.

2006: A new building and laboratory for Materials and Device Research called 4D Labs (Device Design Demonstration and Development, http://www.4dlabs.ca/) was funded to a tune of 14M$ via CFI and BCKDF. This laboratory houses a selection of new infrastructure that further extends PCAMM capabilities including an electron-beam lithography facility, extensive wet lithography equipment, state-of-the-art low energy electron diffraction, Scanning Auger, and much more.

2002: PCAMM received over $3M in infrastructure funding from the Canada Centre for Innovation (CFI). This was matched by the BC Knowledge Development Fund (BCKDF) and private funds bringing the total funded equipment request to over $8M. The new infrastructure was used to purchase a Field Emission Scanning Transmission Electron Microscope (FE-STEM) with energy filtering and parallel electron energy loss spectroscopy (PEELS) capabilities, a Scanning Auger Microscope, semiconductor growth apparatus for the growth of nitrides by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) and metalorganic vapour phase epitaxy (MOVPE) for the growth of oxide semicoductors, several scanning probe microscopes with specialized imaging capabilities, and a dualbeam field emission SEM and focussed ion beam system. These new capabilities have greatly expanded the capacity of PCAMM to produce and characterize new materials and microstructures.
