Hold the flashlight horizontal and give it several shakes so that the magnet moves through the coil. The manufacturer claims "Forever Flashlight will provide you with more than five minutes of light when charged for 30 seconds. If the unit is completely drained of energy, you should give the unit 90 shakes - or about 30 seconds of shaking at 3 shakes per second - to fully charge its capacitor."
