Instructors are responsible for presentation of course material, consultation with students and the assignment of grades. Sessional instructors shall hold a graduate degree (PhD preferred), or equivalent qualification in the field of his/her assignment. Cover letter and CV, * to be submitted, as well as evidence of teaching ability commensurate with the responsibility of teaching of the assigned course and of carrying out the duties related to the effective conduct of that course.

Successful applicants must design their course, and carry out its delivery according to the guidelines established by the Department. For lower division courses , in addition to presenting the weekly lectures, instructors are normally responsible for teaching one section of the weekly tutorials (please be aware that this additional 1 hr tutorial is optional, however, unless otherwise requested, this will be the first tutorial following the lecture), required of students and for supervising Teaching Assistants who will conduct the other tutorials.

*  For distance ed courses, the course supervisor (CP) meets with the TM at the beginning and regularly throughout the semester to establish standards and techniques for grading, to complete the Time Use Guidelines (TUG) and to support in the event other issues arise. The CP also attends to assist the TM at examinations.
