PDA Executive Council President

Dr. Jannik Ehrich
Department of Physics

Jannik is a postdoc in the physics department studying nonequilibrium thermodynamics with John Bechhoefer and David Sivak. He moved to Canada from Germany in March 2020 and served as the Vice President - External Relations in the 2020-2021 PDA Executive Council. He is passionate about bringing together SFU postdoctoral-association and enjoys science communication and exploring all corners of Metro Vancouver on his electric bike.

EXECUTIVE COUNCIL Member

Dr. Hajar Chihab
Faculty of Health Sciences

Hajar is a postdoctoral fellow in the Faculty of Health Sciences and a member of the Pantophlet lab. She aims to contribute to the design of a more broadly protective flu vaccine, first by investigating the antigenic triggers for eliciting protective antibodies, and then by exploring the innate immune effectors that may be relevant to eliciting such antibodies. Hajar did her PhD studies in Morocco, then she moved to Canada since August 2020 to do her first postdoctoral training at Simon Fraser University. She joined the SFU-postdoctoral association to help postdoctoral fellows benefit from the professional development training programs offered at SFU.

EXECUTIVE COUNCIL Member

Dr. Marc Courte
Department of Chemistry

Marc is a postdoc in the Department of Chemistry working on printed electronics with Prof Loren Kaake. He enjoys traveling, sport, and happy hour. He joins the Postdoctoral Associations to support the organization of social events and promote exchange between postdoc communities.

EXECUTIVE COUNCIL Member

Dr. Daniel Gan
Department of Gerontology

Daniel is a CIHR Fellow and an urban sociologist of mental health at SFU Gerontology. He’s working with BC Housing and community organizations to explore implementing Healthy IDEAS+ to ward off depression and reduce dementia risk.

EXECUTIVE COUNCIL Member

Dr. Eric Jones
Department of Physics

Eric is a postdoc studying how stochasticity affects the microbiome, and is a member of the Sivak Group in the Physics Department at SFU. He enjoys hiking in the mountains, having conversations, and staying up late. He is extremely excited to be a part of the SFU postdoc community.

EXECUTIVE COUNCIL Member

Dr. Vera Lucci
Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology

Vera is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology (BPK). Her work examines the role of the autonomic nervous system in syncope (fainting). Vera moved to BC in 2016 to her pursue graduate studies at SFU. During her graduate studies she served as President of BPK Graduate Caucus and held several service roles both within the university and her field of research. These roles have equipped to serve her fellow postdoctoral-association as VP Policy. Outside of research, Vera can often be found in an independent bookstore, rock climbing, or skiing.

EXECUTIVE COUNCIL Member

Dr. Padmapriya Muralidharan
Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology

Priya Muralidharan is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology studying ion channel biophysics using induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes with Prof Thomas Claydon. She pursued her Ph.D. at the University of Western Australia and moved to Memphis, USA for her first postdoc, and then moved to Canada for her second postdoc in November 2019. Having lived in different countries she definitely can appreciate the challenges of any international postdoctoral-association. She joined the SFU-Postdoctoral association to meet, help and represent fellow postdoctoral-association at the Canadian Association of Postdoctoral Scholars.
