Burnaby Festival of Learning engages community

May 09, 2016

Welcome to a new semester at SFU ‒ I hope everyone is settling into the first week of summer classes.

As we at SFU have been readying ourselves for the new term, we’ve also been connecting with the community as part of our ongoing 50th Anniversary Year celebrations. The Burnaby Festival of Learning wrapped this weekend ‒ and what a week it was. We and the City of Burnaby hosted over 50 events that informed, enlightened, provoked, and entertained participants of all ages.

It was a wonderful opportunity to demonstrate SFU’s commitment to being an “engaged university,” and showcase the many opportunities for learning and community involvement that SFU and the City have to offer.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our partner, the City of Burnaby, as well as to all the event organizers, volunteers, community members, host venues and participants who made the week such a success. Selected highlights of the Festival are featured in SFU Storify mix below.

Enjoy the photos, and stay tuned for more ways to get involved and engaged over the coming months.
