Petter's Perspective: Notes from the President
Thank you for supporting the SFU Terry Fox Run
A huge shout out to the SFU Terry Fox Run/Walk organizers, volunteers and participants. Collectively we have (so far) raised close to $27,000 dollars to support cancer research – well done everyone!
Each fall, SFU is proud to honour the legacy of our former kinesiology student, Terry Fox, whose Marathon of Hope has inspired and helped so many people. This year’s fundraising activities included walk/run events on all three campuses, a Post-it Art Competition, Climbing Wall Challenge, Tips For Terry and the Terry Fox Wall of Hope. Funds raised support the Terry Fox Foundation, which to date has raised over $700 million for cancer research.
It was great to be at the Burnaby Campus today and cheer on the community who came out to the event. It was also my honour to present the Terry Fox Gold Medal Award to SFU student Luke Galvani who has shown courage in adversity, and given back to society in the spirit of Terry Fox. Congratulations Luke!
Thank you to everyone who participated – you demonstrated how Canada’s Engaged University can come together to support a great cause.
