Executive Meeting
The PSSU will be having an executive meeting on Wednesday, Feb 9th at 6pm in Aq 6027. All students are welcome!
AGM
The PSSU is having an AGM on Monday, January 24, 2011 at 4:30 pm, room TBA. Elections will be held for the following positions: 3 x Member-at-large, Secretary, Treasurer, Forum Rep and other positions that open due to executive movement. Please come prepared to present why you are interested in the position. Food and beverages to be served. For more information please contact pol-pres at sfu dot ca.

PSSU AGM
The PSSU is having its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on June 22nd at 6:30 pm in AQ 4119. Positions up for election include President, Secretary, Communication Officer, Promotions Coordinator, and Forum Representative. Interested parties should come prepared to explain why they are interested in the position; no previous experience is required. Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
Back in Business!
After a much needed break the PSSU is back in business. We have a meeting this Tuesday, May 18th at 4:30 pm and we want you to be there! Items on the agenda include club days, the upcoming edition of the journal, fall events and much more! We are always interested in having fresh faces involved in our meetings or just helping out at events, so come out, meet your fellow Poli Sci students and get involved!

Check out the PSSU table at Clubs Days during the second week of the summer semester! We will be having sign-up for mailing lists, selling poli sci department clothing & copies of the undergraduate journal, and promoting our upcoming events. Or, meet your executive and find out how to get involved. Table information, as well as Clubs Days dates and times will be posted at a later date.
Political Science Undergraduate Journal
The Political Science Student Union is looking for submissions for its upcoming issue of the Undergraduate Journal. Any papers relating to political science (including: IR, political theory, political economy, LAS, economic & political development, Canadian politics, voting) are welcome as long as they fit within the submission guidelines. PSSU Women In Politics Event & Social III: Update
Women in Politics
After much deliberation the PSSU has decided to postpone its Women In Politics event until the fall semester. With the intention of conducting a smaller, more intimate event which is focused specifically on students' needs and interests we felt it would be in the best interest of all parties to wait so as to provide the best possible event. If you are interested in becoming involved or have any questions, comments or concerns, check out the facebook group and post on the discussion boards. Or, better yet, come to a meeting!
SOCIAL III: Social With A Vengance
The wheels are turning on Social III and we want to hear what you have to say! Have a suggestion for music? Interested in how the social is put together? Have grievances to air about Social II? If so, let us know! We would love to hear what you have to say. Come out to a meeting, meet your exec. and get involved. We need volunteers with serving it right for beer sales, people to sell beer tickets and assistance in setting up and taking down the room, so if any of these jobs appeal to you, let us know!

Engineers Without Borders Volunteer Opportunities
Directorships with EWB are entry-level volunteer leadership opportunities. You will be given training, and expected to volunteer between 3 and 5 hours each week. Responsibilities will vary based on the position, and coaching is available. Directorships are made by appointment, not election, so we ask that you submit a paragraph stating why you are a strong candidate for the position you are interested in to ensure our applicants are serious. Directorship positions are a fantastic way to gather leadership experience and apply your creativity to help solve some of the world’s toughest problems.To apply for any directorship position: submit a paragraph by email to Mike: mah3@sfu.ca by March 14th that outlines why you are interested in the position. Engineers Without Borders Collaboration Event
Monday, Feb 8th in AQ 4125 @ 12:30 EWB will be having a collaboration event to discuss who they are, what they do, what sorts of exchange opportunities are available, as well as EWB development. Engineers Without Borders
The PSSU is working with SFU's chapter of Engineers Without Borders to raise awareness about opportunities available to political science students overseas and in Canada. If you're interested in finding out more information about EWB check the PSSU's Discussion Board on Facebook or contact sfu@ewb.ca.

That's right kids: SOCIAL III is on its way. After much deliberation the PSSU has decided to throw another social, but this time with MORE beer, MORE wine, Rockstar & Vodka, live music and a DJ. Detailed information to follow; check the website and facebook group for details.

Women In Politics Symposium & Reception

- WHAT: The PSSU is proud to announce its first Women in Politics symposium and reception!
As a way to discuss the role of women in politics the PSSU is proud to announce its first Women in Politics symposium. With the assistance of various politicians, professors and other politically-minded individuals, we are hoping to encourage the discussion of women in politics via discussion of political representation, identity, political activism, etc. The event will be followed by a catered reception. Please look to the PSSU website or facebook group for forthcoming information.
AGM Success
The PSSU AGM was a huge success! Thanks to all the new students who attended and voiced their opinions and concerns, as well as those who ran for a position on the executive. The PSSU would like to welcome their new executive members: David Dyck as Tresurer, Sam Reynolds as Member at Large and Justin Domareski as Member at Large. Moreover, we would like to announce the creation of three new positions: Member at Large, Promotions Coordinator and Administrative Editor-Journal.
PSSU Undergraduate Journal Launch Event

As a celebration of all the hard work of student contributors, editors and those involved in the publication of the journal, the PSSU is throwing a launch party. This will offer an opportunity for students to mingle with fellow SFU students and faculty, as well as meet the PSSU executive.
Beer, wine and light refreshments will be served. Moreover, copies of the journal will be made available for sale.

American Criminal Justice Presentation
Some American students are coming over to SFU to give us a presentation on the Criminal Justice system and the government they have, south of the 49th parallel. You need to pre-register for this event as there is limited space (and food). To register, email crim-pres@sfu.ca with your name, major, and a relevant subject title. The PSSU, in co-operation with the Economics Student Society, is putting on a beverage garden and social for Political Science students, Economics students, and whoever else wants to drop by and have a good time. The beverage garden will be held in the Forum Chambers, which are right below High Grounds on the north side of the Convocation Mall.

Model UN at SFU
The Simon Fraser University Model United Nations (here referred to as SFUMUN) was founded in January 2005. The vision of its founders was to establish an umbrella organization at SFU that would undertake a host of activities with regard to Model United Nations (MUN) conferences held around the globe, from Cairo to New York.
Through founding a registered club and initiating an information network with other student oriented MUN organizations in various universities, SFUMUN seeks to facilitate and encourage upon the participation of SFU students in MUN conferences world wide, and pioneer an internationally recognized MUN conference at SFU Campus.

Fairvote Talk at SFU
