Jennifer Trew, PhD

Dr. Jennifer Trew is a postdoctoral fellow at Simon Fraser University (SFU) working under the supervision of Dr. Rebecca Cobb. Jennifer received her B.A. honours from the University of Calgary and her M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology with a minor in quantitative methods from the University of British Columbia following an internship at St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Hamilton, Ontario. She was awarded a SSHRC postdoctoral fellowship to pursue research examining romantic relationships in social anxiety. She is particularly interested in the role that approach and avoidance processes, attachment, and communication play in relationship quality and sexual satisfaction in the context of social anxiety. Jennifer is currently conducting an online study investigating this topic. She is also involved in a larger lab project looking at the role of communication in established dating relationships. She plans to continue this line of research in the future by investigating other processes that may affect the quality of socially anxious individuals’ romantic relationships, examining the broader impact of relationship difficulties on anxious individuals’ lives, and developing interventions to improve relationship outcomes for socially anxious individuals.
