Attachment security is composed of two dimensions: anxiety and avoidance. Anxiety refers to the degree to which individuals fear rejection, loss, or separation. Avoidance refers to the degree to which individuals avoid closeness and intimacy with others. Individuals higher in anxiety and/or avoidance tend to develop more insecure attachments to close others.
