Social Skills Study
We are currently looking for youth between 11-18 years of age and their parents to participate in research studies on social competence. Participants who are able to visit us at SFU will be scheduled at their convience and are asked to come in for one 2 hour session (including breaks). During this time, parents will be asked questions about their child's development and social competence while the child/adolescent participates in computer and video based tasks assessing cognitive skills and their understanding of social situations. Parents will be provided with $40 travel reimbursement adn the children/adolescent will be provided with a movie pass or Chapters gift card as compensation for their time. Social Development
"Let's Face it" Intervention- Study. This study is about a multi-pronged intervention in face processing for children with ASD comprised of a computer-based training platform (the Let’s Face It! program) and direct one-to-one tutoring instruction. The results of the intervention on the ASD treatment group will be compared to typically developing and ASD control groups utilizing behavioural and neurophysiological measures. This study is a collaboration with Dr. J. Tanaka at University of Victoria.
