Headed by Dr. Arlene Young, the Children’s Social Emotional Development Lab is a research and training facility within the Psychology Department at Simon Fraser University. Members of this lab are interested in researching the interplay between cognitive and emotional factors in child development.

We are also interested in knowing how early experiences in a child’s life, (such as interactions within families and with peers) influence emotional development. Ultimately, we hope that this research will lead to interventions to help children who are having difficulty in some aspect of their social development, such as very shy or anxious children.
