About Dr. Thornton
Dr. Wendy Loken Thornton is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Simon Fraser University, and is a faculty member of the Graduate training program in Clinical Psychology.
She completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Neuropsychology in 1995. She subsequently completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where she obtained additional specialization in Neuropsychology. Dr. Thornton was a Senior Psychologist in the Geriatric Division at Riverview Hospital from 1997-2001.
Dr. Loken Thornton's research examines age differences in cognitive performance using both traditional neuropsychological measures and measures of “everyday” cognition and functioning. She is interested in how age differences in memory and other cognitive abilities are explained by individual differences in factors such as lifestyle and health. She is also interested in understanding how older and younger adults differ in their approach to making decisions, particularly regarding their health care.
