The New World of Work: An Evening with Van Jones & Anne-Marie Slaughter

You know what’s a great Wednesday night activity? A symposium.

There’s a good one this Wednesday at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Cultural critics Van Jones and Anne-Marie Slaughter, two leading commentators on the American economy, visit Vancouver this week to discuss the role that citizens, governments and civil society can play in shaping the future of work. They’ll touch on green jobs, emergent industries, education and public policy.

It all sounds very enlightening and relevant, which is what you want out of a good symposium. The evening will be moderated by the CBC’s Laura Lynch and is part of SFU’s 2018 Community Summit, Brave New Work.

This is an excerpt from 'The Happenings: Three things to do in Vancouver on Wednesday, Feb. 28' written by Harrison Mooney and published in the Vancouver Sun on February 27, 2018.
