After founding the Sound of Young America in 2000, while a student at the University of California at Santa Cruz, Jesse Thorn became the youngest national host in public radio history when the show began to be distributed by Public Radio International in 2007. The show became Bullseye in 2012.

Now the proprietor of MaximumFun.org, he hosts and produces Bullseye and Jordan, Jesse, Go!, and is the co-host and producer of Judge John Hodgman.

In addition to his work at MaximumFun.org, he hosts and helps produce Put This On, a video series and blog about men's style. He also hosted The Grid, a culture recommendation program on IFC.

Thorn’s talk will cover how he innovatively turned his college radio show into an independent media powerhouse, and how 12 other people, many of them his friends and colleagues, exemplify the qualities you need to make your independent artistic and career aspirations a reality in the internet age.

After Jesse's presentation and Q&A, there will be a bonus live podcast taping of Jesse Thorn & His Podcasting Pals, with special guests Graham Clark and Dave Shumka from Stop Podcasting Yourself.
