Q: How much of a time commitment is required to be a volunteer?
A: As a program we have tried our best to accommodate the various schedules and availabilities that our volunteers bring to the table. Whether you would like to volunteer once at an event, or one day a week in our office, we want you to join us in the Square!
Q: When do you start recruiting volunteers for the Community Summit?
A: Our recruitment process for the yearly Community Summit begins in January. There are various phases leading up to the Summit, with different opportunities available. Stay tuned for more information!
Q: How do I apply? What do I have to do to apply?

Q: Do I have to be an SFU student to volunteer?
A: No, we welcome all volunteers over the age of 18.
Q: Is volunteering at SFU Public Square a part of the SFU Ambassador Program?
A: Yes, we register our short term volunteer opportunities with the SFU Ambassador Program, which provides current SFU students with a co-curricular record of their on campus volunteer contributions upon graduation. For more information, visit the SFU Ambassador Program Website.
Q: I am an international student/newcomer to Canada. Do I need a work permit to volunteer?
A: No, you do not need a work permit to volunteer with us. More information can be found on the Government of Canada website.
Q: I am a member of a visible/invisible minority, is SFU Public Square a safe space for me?
A: Absolutely! This is a safe space, and we encourage members of all our diverse communities to join our team.
