It is possible to apply for financial assistance before entering REM. If you have an A- (first class or 3.67 GPA on a 4.33 scale) cumulative average, there are a number of national scholarships for which you may be eligible, such as those offered by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC). We strongly advise Canadian applicants with a high GPA to apply for NSERC or SSHRC before applying to REM. The application deadline for most of these awards is the October preceding the September in which you wish to begin graduate study. These and other graduate financial awards are managed through the Graduate Studies. Forms for national awards are available from the sponsoring agency.
If you are offered a position in REM and subsequently receive an offer for financial support from another university, please notify your supervisor or the REM Graduate Program Assistant. We may be able to secure matching funds.

There are also limited funds available from SFU Graduate Fellowships, Research Assistant-ships, Teaching Assistant-ships, research contracts and grants.
