Students

world college magnet

SFU registrar Ron Heath (third from left) welcomes United World College graduates with open arms. Heath, shown here with just a few of the dozens of UWC graduates who attended SFU last year, says they are "some of the most amazing students I've had the privilege to know."

There are 10 United World Colleges located around the world, dedicated to promoting international understanding through education. UWC students spend two years earning their International Baccalaureate diplomas — a credential that virtually assures their acceptance into any of the world's top universities.

Although they can go anywhere, a growing number are choosing to come to SFU. In fact, SFU now has almost 90 UWC graduates, more than at any other Canadian post-secondary institution. And all UWC graduates who have completed an undergraduate degree at SFU have gone on to graduate school. UWC students praise SFU for its multicultural environment and its open-minded, inclusive community.
