Three physics honours
Physicist Mike Thewalt is redefining the limits of semiconductor spectroscopy with the construction of a unique spectrometer that will analyze the spectrum of light emitted by synthetically manipulated silicon.

His work, using isotopically pure silicon, may lead to revolutionary electronic applications and has earned him three prestigious honours in 2004: a Canada Council Killam research fellowship; a lifetime achievement medal from the Canadian Association of Physicists (CAP); and the Brockhouse medal from CAP for his recent contributions to condensed matter physics.

Canada Council Killam research fellowships recognize and support distinguished Canadian scholars who have established an outstanding reputation in their area of research.
