What is it?

SFU Research Gateway is a customized commercial product that provides faculty with a web-based grant and contract submission and approval process. It incorporates automated workflow, replacing both the 'Signature Sheet' and the laborious process of obtaining signatures.

Essentially, it will replace the existing Ethics Database and the pre-award functionality of Grant Track.

The system will undergo a staged implementation. Starting in early 2019, SFU will be gradually launching the system, beginning with the Human Ethics application management module. Subsequent modules—including grants pre-award administration—are scheduled to launch throughout 2020.

Who's affected?

The new system will be designed to benefit researchers, graduate students and administrative staff involved in managing and applying for grants and ethics applications.

Sponsored by the Office of the Vice-President, Research in collaboration with IT Services, SFU Research Gateway is integral to SFU's Strategic Research Plan, committed to positioning the university to capitalize on new opportunities, engaging in interdisciplinary research with community partners and enhancing its research performance.
