IN 1993 NORA AND TED STERLING
established a prize at Simon Fraser University to honor
"work which challenges complacency and that provokes
controversy or contributes to its understanding."

Please join us for the Sterling Conference on Controversy
and the presentation of the
2005 Sterling Prize in Support of Controversy to
D. Kim Rossmo

Dr. Rossmo is a research professor in criminal justice and director of the advanced criminal investigation research center at Texas State University and adjunct professor of criminology at SFU.  He received an SFU outstanding alumni award for his research and development of geographic profiling used in investigating serial crime. His current research focus is on geographic patterns in illegal land border crossings between the US and Mexico.

The conference begins at 2 pm with a keynote address by
John Dixon (BC Civil Liberties Association) followed by a panel
discussion among previous Sterling Prize winners and a reception.
There will be a tribute to the late Ted Sterling at 6 pm
followed by the Sterling Prize presentation and lecture.

The conference and the lecture are free but
