bike ride on the dyke in Pitt Meadows

When: Tuesday, July 25th, 10 am
Where: on the dyke in Pitt Meadows.

We will meet in the parking lot at the bridge on the right side of Harris Road.
Take the Lougheed Highway toward Maple Ridge, cross the Pitt River bridge and
take the first left onto Dewdney Trunk Road. Follow it to the end and turn left
on Harris Road. Stay on Harris (3 minutes?) till you come to the free parking
lot just before the bridge over the Alouette River, on your right.

Here is a map that might help. You may have to ctrl click to open the link.
Click once or twice on the zoom out button to get a bird's eye view. Note that
the red star is an approximate location marker. It is on the OTHER side of the
Alouette River - you want to park BEFORE crossing the bridge.

The ride along the dyke is flat and very pleasant, with benches along
the way - about 40 minutes each direction. We will ride up Laity into
Maple Ridge to have lunch at the Royal Canadian Legion on 224th where
there is a covered and heated patio.

Laity is a manageable hill with very little traffic on a wide paved
road. It takes about 15 minutes to ride up and then maybe another 10
minutes to get to the Legion.

All in all, with an hour or so for lunch, we should be back at the
parking lot by 2 or 2:30.

If it is raining or threatening to do so we will postpone the ride.
Anyone not wanting to go for lunch is still welcome to come for the
ride.

Advance notice isn't required but RSVP if you can.
