To the Campus Community:
After eight years as Vice-President Academic and Provost, Dr. John Waterhouse will be stepping down at the end of August 2008. You are invited to join his friends and colleagues in thanking him for his outstanding contributions to the University.
Tuesday June 17, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm Diamond Alumni Centre
Dr. Waterhouse joined SFU as the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration in September of 1997. As Dean, he was instrumental in the development of new academic programs and partnerships in the Faculty, including the Management of Technology (MOT) MBA and a joint UBC/SFU MBA program for accounting professionals. Since his appointment as Vice-President Academic and Provost in 2000, Dr. Waterhouse has overseen a number of initiatives which have positioned SFU well for the future, including the undergraduate curriculum review resulting in the introduction of breadth, quantitative and writing requirements, the First Nations University-Wide Strategic Plan, the implementation of the Student Information Management System, the establishment of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and most recently, the Faculty restructuring process. His leadership has been crucial to the development of SFU Surrey, the expansion of our Vancouver campus, the growth and diversity of our international programmes, and the many-faceted academic and infrastructure development on Burnaby Mountain. His service to SFU over the past decade has been truly remarkable, and I know many colleagues across the university will want, with me, to express our gratitude. I look forward to seeing you at this event.
