Tsunami, Flooding, Storm Surge Would Wipe Out Parts of Metro Vancouver
This striking image was created by SFU Urban Studies student Brandon Yan. It shows what would happen to the Greater Vancouver area if the sea level would rise by 4-metres, or if we were to be flooded with the same force as New York was by Hurricane Sandy in 2012. The result of a 4-metre increase in sea level would mean, “that Steveston…would be wiped out.”
Yan was able to create these images by using the website flood.firetree.net. Users are able to adjust the sea levels over maps and find out which areas would be affected by a rise in sea level.
