Finding an Index Entry
The method you use to find an index entry depends on whether you are looking in the
master index or in the index
for a specific book.
Master Index
The master index displays in the right frame of your browser. To find an index entry,
follow these steps:
- Scroll to the top or bottom of the page and find the row of letters that serve as
index links. Select the letter, special character, or number that corresponds to the
first character of the index entry you want to find. The entries are listed alphabetically.
- Scroll to the index entry you want, or use your
browser's search capability to automatically search for the index entry on the
current page.
- Select one of the book aliases listed next to the index entry to see the occurrence
of the index entry in a specific book. Use
Book Alias Key to find out which book title a book
alias represents. The Book Alias Key is available in the left frame of your browser for quick
reference.
Index for a Specific Book
An index for a specific book displays in the left frame of your browser. See Selecting
an Index. To find an index entry, follow these steps:
- Enter the first letter of the index entry you want in the Find field. The first matching index
entry, if any, displays. Punctuation marks preceding the first letter in the index entry are ignored.
- Add a letter to the Find field until either the index entry is matched, or an index entry that falls
alphabetically after the index entry you want is highlighted indicating there is no match for the letter(s) you entered.
Only first-level index entries are compared against characters entered in the Find field.
- Select the index entry to display the online book page in the right frame of your browser.
