Computational Overview
The two main computational tasks of PROC KDE are automatic bandwidth
selection and the construction of a kernel density estimate once a
bandwidth has been selected. The primary computational tools used
to accomplish these tasks are binning, convolutions, and the fast
Fourier transform.
The following sections provide analytical
details on these topics, beginning with the density estimates
themselves.
