Nathan Marsh selected as Spectrum Music’s New Voices Composer in Residence for 2016

Vancouver Premiere of Patterson’s Wager

Corbin Saleken is not only the SCA's Film and Video Resource Specialist, he's also a right-and-proper film maker with an upcoming premiere for his film Patterson's Wager on Sunday, April 17 at 8:25 PM at the Vancity Theatre (1181 Seymour St, Vancouver). Vilhelm Sundin wins inaugural Philip B Lind prize

SFU MFA candidate Vilhelm Sundin has won the inaugural Philip B. Lind Emerging Artist Prize, which was awarded at the launch of the 2016 Capture Photography Festival.

Sundin is an interdisciplinary artist working mainly with time-based media. Born in Sweden, he moved to Vancouver in 2006 to attend Emily Carr University, where he received his Bachelor of Media Arts. Vilhelm’s films and videos explore what it means to be human in an increasingly complex world.

Presented by Presentation House Gallery, The Philip B. Lind Emerging Artist Prize is made possible with generous support from Rogers Communications. The 2016 jury included Stephen Waddell (artist and Emily Carr University of Art and Design faculty member), Helga Pakasaar (Curator, Presentation House Gallery) and Reid Shier (Director/Curator, Presentation House Gallery).

Shortlisted artists for the inaugural prize included: Kerri Flannigan, University of Victoria; Emily Geen, University of Victoria; Curtis Grahauer, Simon Fraser University; Polina Lasenko, Emily Carr University of Art and Design; Brandon Poole, University of Victoria; Anna Shkuratoff, University of Victoria; Vilhelm Sundin, Simon Fraser University; Lauren Tsuyuki, Simon Fraser University.

Chelsea DesLauriers wins Grant Strate Award

Chelsea DesLauriers is the recipient of the Grant Strate Award in Dance this year. The Grant Strate Award in Dance was established in 2013 by Mr. Grant Strate to recognize a promising undergraduate dance student in the School for the Contemporary Arts. Wen Wei Wang is continuing this award in memory of Grant Strate. Congratulations, Chelsea!
