Moments: Monochromatic

Musebots at the Gold Saucer, 2017

Arne Eigenfeldt and Peggy Lee

Moments is a generative work that explores Moment-form, a term Stockhausen coined to describe his music that avoids directed narrative curves. Through the use of musebots – independent musical agents – that utilise a ParameterBot to generate an overall template of “moments”, the agents communicate their intentions and coordinate conditions for collaborative machine composition. One musebot is dedicated to translating messages into musical notation for the live (human) performer. Filmed live at the Gold Saucer on July 28, 2017, as part of Play Nice: Musical Collisions Between Humans & Intelligent Machines, which was organized by Sawdust Collector.
