Die Preise der Stadt Wien 2019

Sabine Bitter & Helmut Weber, Un_Formal Housing, 2018. Exhibition view, Gallery ARCC Vienna.

Congratulations to the SCA's Sabne Bitter and her longtime collaborator Helmut Weber for winning the 2019 Visual Art Award from the City of Vienna for Un_Formal Housing, a project they presented at Galerie A.R.C.C. (June 20 – July 27, 2018) as part of the Walter Seidl curated group exhibition, Stadtgeflechte / City Fabrics.

On their website, Bitter and Weber describe their work as "a series of six photograms and six architectural working-models which refer to Adolf Loos’ sketch of the “One-Wall House”, which he devised in response the Viennese “Settler movement” in the beginning of the 1920s."

Here's the full press release from Artmagazine (translated via Google), which also lists all of the other prize winners in the other categories:

Since 1993, Sabine Bitter and Helmut Weber have dealt with the effects of political action on urban spaces and architecture.
