IKARUS, stirb oder flieg

Königsfelden Abbey in Windisch, Switzerland

The SCA's Rob Kitsos is in Switzerland co-choreographing IKARUS, stirb oder flieg with Artistic Director Brigitta Luisa Merki and a large team of dancers and technicians for the Baden-based tanz&kunst Productions. Every two years they use the Königsfelden Abbey in Windisch (pictured here) as a venue for "outstanding t&kk productions," including this one. Here's how t&kk describe the work on their website:

The new production entitled IKARUS, stirb oder flieg tells the tragic Greek myth of Icarus’ flight in the unique ambience of the Königsfelden Monastery Church; an international dance ensemble lends Icarus new wings. Contemporary-, flamenco-, and breakdance flirt with each other in the choreography by Rob Kitsos, while live musicians perform a composition by Christoph Huber. Roman Sonderegger’s sculptural space concept serves as backdrop for Artistic Director Brigitta Luisa Merki’s new interpretation of the myth of Icarus.

IKARUS, stirb oder flieg runs May 24 to April 23, 2019. Tickets are on sale now HERE.
